Simon Says

31 May 2012

"do you think we should be worried that Sebastian cares about absolutely nothing?"

After seeing my choice of footwear for a walk around the neighborhood, Simon said, "generally how long do sandal styles stay in fashion? because I'm hoping those are about to expire."

While Julia was machine gun whining about something seemingly urgent on the same walk, Simon said, "at what age is she is supposed to grow out of this personality?"

Regarding one of my less than stellar blog posts earlier this week, Simon said, "it definitely wasn't a home run ... maybe more of a base hit."

After drinking a Margarita and then picking up Sebastian, Simon said, "hopefully he gets a whiff of my breath, becomes intoxicated, and then passes out for the night."

In response to me kindly telling him that he had a something on his face during dinner, Simon said, "thanks but it's called a 'Sloppy Joe', not a 'Neat and Tidy Joseph'."

  1. Hahahaha...the last one was hilarious. Also, I think all of your posts are fantastic, so pay no heed.

  2. Ha! Neat and Tidy Joseph. That Simon needs a book of his own!

  3. My favorites are 1 and 2. I also love the photo of Sebastian looking chill as all get out in his swing.

  4. As I was going to sleep last night, I was startled awake with one of those thoughts that just comes out of the blue as I realized:

I think I listed too much tequila in that margarita recipe I sent to Grace!!!

We never measure it, so I was just guesstimating, and I think I guesstimated high. Anyway, sorry for any chandelier-swinging injuries that may have resulted.

  6. Something tells me that Sebastian not caring about anything is probably a tremendous gift. As long as he gets over it by, say, college, it's probably ok.

Also, margaritas. Muy jealous. I haven't seen a bottle of tequila since....well, last time I was in the US. God bless America, right?

  7. Loving the last one. I think I am renaming sloppy joes from now on. Also, let me know how the margheritas worked on Sebastian. Ellen might need the same treatment. Right. Now.

  8. And yes, I spelled margaritas wrong. I spelled it like my middle name: Margherita. More proof that I need one.

  9. FOUR HOURS. This has been up for FOUR HOURS and I'm just now seeing it. Unacceptable.
Sorry, V Cakes, you just have to whine in your crib for a liiiiitle longer, since I have to go back and re-read the post slower, since I've gotten my first frenzied read out of the way.

  10. Regarding the first -- everybody needs one chill member of the family. ...

Regarding the last -- I write my planned dinners on the calendar for the non-chill members of the family who need to be reassured that today is not the day I will forget to feed them. You bet I am going to make "neat and tidy Josephs" next week just so I can write that.

  12. Always funny. Always.

Also, guess what we're having for dinner?

  13. I seriously can't pick a favorite. So enjoyable, as ALWAYS. But I have to say, I'm a little jeal-y that your hubby reads your blog regularly enough to have an opinion on post quality. Mine is like "What? Isn't it all pretty much the same stuff you just told me when I walked in the door?"

  14. Um, what is he talking about? Those sandals are absolutely great. and if you're getting rid of them, I'll take them off your hands free of charge.

  15. I didn't think it was possible to have a good laugh at 6:30 am, but here I am, laughing away!

I can't wait to read about when Julia is a teenager - I think the machine gun whine will still be around.

I also think I am going to call sloppy Joe's "Neat and Tidy Jospehs" from now on... hahaha!
