Never in all my years of knowing Simon have I ever (ever ever) seen him use any sort of smiley :) or saddy :( in his writing and/or typing (and we did a LOT of gchatting and emailing back in the day) ... until now.
He kindly took the monsters to the park last night and instead of doing my usual wall stare or Bachelorette Hulu view I decided to mop for the first time in many moons. Half the battle of mopping around here is first finding and spraying down all 9345 areas of crusty leftovers covering the floor c/o the neat and tidies. When I went to grab the spray bottle to begin my evening of toil I found this graffiti adorning the nozzle ...
... apparently he doesn't share my affinity for Pinterest cleaning solutions (80 parts vinegar, 1/2 part water, 1/8 part dish soap, 1/9 part gullible)
And if anyone can share with me how to type an eye rolling emoticon (preferably in bold and size 80 font) ... I would be forever grateful.

haha, so funny. ryan also gags when I use my vinegar + lemon juice + water pinterest concoction on the table/eilin's high chair. they just don't understand our green, frugal efforts.
ReplyDeletemy hubs does the same thing but i try to get him to understand that i'm saving him a penny or two every time! completely worth the smell, right?
ReplyDeleteLove that my sweet friend nat commented! I consider it a great gift that I sent this blog to her but let's please not kid ourselves. The conversation she mentioned happened in 2010 :) now, my neat freak husband simply told me he preferred I NOT clean to using vinegar. So I obliged like a good wife And not because I started using Clorox!
Deletelet's not talk about the last time i mopped, ok? because i can't remember that far back.
ReplyDeletethe next time you're in a loving mood, try the pinterest trick of microwaving a bowl of vinegary water to "deodorize." simon will totally love the vinegary kick it gives his popcorn.
ReplyDeleteLaughing with tears in my eyes, because I just did this yesterday, and my husband looked at the situation, opened his mouth, and then quickly closed it and gave me one of those tight lipped smiles. Smart man.
DeleteI cannot STAND the clorox spray that my hubby loves so much and he thinks I'm insane for using my vinegar mix, but guess who does most of the cleaning 'round here? Winning!
ReplyDeleteIn the middle here on this one. I use vinegar for EVERYTHING, but despise it's odor. I can soldier through white vinegar stank, but if I have to use apple cider vinegar for anything, I nearly pass out (what? me a drama queen? shadup!) THAT stuff smells like vomit on a 100 degree day. I figure that cleaning is a mortification and if you add vinegar, then it becomes a mortification with a window into hell. (I'm on year 17 of no sleep due to motherhood, so... yeah, a bit cranky today).
ReplyDeleteNew reader here. . .j'adore Camp Patton! I am compelled to comment because I, too, joined the ranks of per-Pinterest vinegar cleaners--just this week and, lo, though my newly pickled shower glass is sparkly, it is stinky. I get this post.
ReplyDeleteHahahahaha!!!! Hilarious!
ReplyDeleteI need to figure out that eye rolling emoticon, for sure!
ReplyDeleteYou should try Orange Oil as a cleaning agent. It's awesome and smells awesome. It even repels bugs!
ReplyDeleteI use it on the floors (a couple capfuls in a sink of water) and I use it as a kitchen cleaner (2 capfuls to a spray bottle full of water).
My first thought was, "1/9th?" Clearly a former math teacher.
ReplyDeleteHaha that's hilarious!
ReplyDeleteBtw I love my vinegar/Dawn/water (minus the stank)!
Mike just about killed me when his parents came to visit our apartment for the first time. I was embarrassed because our microwave was so dirty, and I wanted everything to be perf. To get the gunk out, I microwaved a mug of vinegar for 5 minutes. By the time they walked in, it was the stankiest mess you've ever let your nose know about. Oops.
ReplyDeleteHaha, Ben says that Simon knows how to lay down the law!
ReplyDeleteI must admit that after using a natural product, or -- hey -- just water, I always find my husband spraying down everything with orange-smelling Mr. Clean spray soon afterward, while I explain, "but I just cleaned!"
ReplyDeleteHow funny! Yeah, I hate that vinegar works so well, but smells so foul.- Tough choice :-)
ReplyDeleteThere must be something in the air - I mopped this morning for the first time in forever.
ReplyDeleteI use apple cider vinegar (diluted with water) as a toner and in the beginning my husband asked, "Why does it smell like Easter eggs?" Uh, darling that would be me. What? You don't like it?! The good news is he's gotten used to it and doesn't notice it anymore, but I still wonder if other people can smell it. Hopefully not.
hahaha this one made me snicker aloud.
ReplyDeleteWell...I condone all things vinegar and all things pinterest. So I'm all :) to Simon's :(
ReplyDeleteVinegar is free with a coupon at target til July 21st....
ReplyDeleteOh, and here I was going to say that my unique husband hates my vinegar smell as well but apparently...he's not so unique. I'll let him know.
ReplyDeleteBut every time he complains about my homemade vinegar delightful cleaning products, I say it must be because your mother used so many chemicals when he was small. I find countering with a mother in law dig helps get over the annoyance that my husband is complaining at all as I clean weeks of "stick" off our floors. Seriously, my book on holy marriage should be coming out any day with tips like this right?!
And I love that pic you posted from Facebook! And I love the fact you posted it.
