I saw the sign

14 November 2012

I don't know what I hate the most:
1. my life
2. the fact that you are taking a mostly nude photo of me in the mirror with your cell phone
3. that hideous face you're making OR
4. the permanent marker scribbles on your nails

Greetings from the week that I thought might kill me and the kids.

It didn't!! It won't.

It's only Wednesday and Ace of Base came on the van's radio today and renewed our spirits and I think we just might make it. Sebastian is still on the fence with his hydrant of a nose and new penchant for brooding but things finally started to look straight ahead instead of straight down to hell this morn. Tomorrow I'm going to aim for one Sebastian smile and one heavenward tilt of our heads because I'm an optimist as you well know.

Without getting too "is she speaking English or is she speaking medical technical?" on you I'll just report that I decided to take my life threatening heartburn out of the incapable hands of generic tropical flavored antacids and threw the flames at a more serious balm of a minty and much stronger variety. Also, after a long date with the dentist and my insanely sensitive gums, lots of lettuce thrown at a lot of Benzocaine, and many days of a liquid diet ... I've graduated back to eating solid, luke warm oatmeal.

Julia hasn't skipped a beat in any life realm and has actually accomplished quite a bit these past few days ...
Admiring weeks of practice and concentration. Oh, how I wish I were kidding.

Also ... her vocabulary is really taking off and probably her greatest stride is that she's started calling the refrigerator a "bidge" which sounds exactly like "bitch"

And ...
All of a sudden she is talking to anyone and anything about anything and everything
bumps into the door on accident? "sorry, door."
walking upstairs? "bye basement."
Sebastian returns from a 4 second sojourn to the next room? "I missed you, Bashy!"

I call the method that bears such sweet fruit "unschooling" -- you'll have to Google it because it's all very complicated and I'm actually in the middle of lesson planning right this second.

No rest for the mothers/educators/sickly/professional photographers.
Ever.

  3. Take Zantac (Ranitidine)for your heartburn. It is fine to take the 75mg dosage while pregnant. I had raging painful heartburn during all three pregancies. Finally switched from Tums to Ranitidine on the 3rd pregnancy and it made the biggest difference. Actual relief many hours at a time. I also found out that taking too many antacids can give you gallstones or kidney stones or some such painful affliction. The Zantac 75 took me through most of a 24hr period and I would take a few tums as needed after.

  4. I've had good luck with Pepcid AC and I'm about 23 weeks along with my second. Terrible, horrible, knot-in-the-throat heartburn/reflux and I felt much better after a few days when I started taking it. Good luck and feel better!

  5. Oh my gosh! "Bidge"!! I'm still laughing! Sorry about the heartburn - I had the same thing with my last pregnancy - definitely go with the Zantac or the Pepcid. My OB ended up sending me to a Gastro for an eval because it was so bad. The Gastro is who put me on the meds. SO much better. Hope YOU feel better soon.

  7. Hahah too funny! I had the strangest dream the other night. I was shoppping at the Brentwood Schnucks and you were there with you kiddos and rangling them into the cart while you finished shopping... You were like super woman! lol

I must be reading your blog too often since I have only met you once, (bought that red silk top from you) and I dreamed about your fam.

Sorr, hope this didn't make you all "ahh creepy stalker lady!" lol

  8. Yes to Zantac! I was on the verge of carrying around a bottle of Maalox instead of water in my last pregnancy. My ob told me to find the highest strength Zantac and take it regularly. So much better!

  9. I love how Julia talks to things - my Maggie does that too. If she falls down she yells at the floor for being too slippery. Girls are so verbal. So very very verbal. Sometimes I replace the word verbal with annoying :)

  10. "Sorry, door." How cute.

Um... it took me a second to realize which child the half-nakie picture was of. Mostly because of the facial expression. But I finally figured it out. Don't tell them. I'd hate to offend.

  11. I took Prilosec with my first pregnancy, when I had killer heartburn that felt like I was on fire constantly, from my throat all the way down to my stomach. It worked, and I was happy and could sleep again.

My 2 yr old son replaces lots of different sounds with "f". Makes for fun listening as some words sound a little obscene, like when you're walking down the sidewalk and he starts pointing and yelling about " Big fwucks!" or tells you that our car has "frunk" or that he went "frickerfreeting" on Hallowe'en.

  12. Long-time-reader and first-time-commenter in the camp! I recently had two horrible days of heart burn/chest pain and ended up in the ER one night thanks to WebMD. I had an EKG and exited with a 'script for Prilosec. A week later and no spasm since. Not sure how it would affect a pregnancy but it has been a miracle for me and my slumber!

Reading your blog has become apart of my daily ritual -- right behind getting myself to work, pouring my coffee, and reading Facebook statuses of people I wish I weren't friends with, EVERY morning. The kids are adorable and hilarious, even better they have very cool parents! :)

  15. It is so funny that Julia's word for fridge sounds like bitch. Our 2 year old calls our son Alex, Ass. Lol!

  16. Your Ace of Base references ALWAYS make me smile. Ace of Base rocks (as do most, if not alllll Swedish bands. Helloo, Abba?!)

...now I'm really hoping you actually are referencing Ace of Base and it's not just my desperate-hope-to-find-a-fellow(closet)fan showing.

  19. Will I need to switch to a 4 etapa da pesquisa seja confirmada.
Myocarditis is often a diagnosis of any one of which can be treated with many chronic
diseases. The project, and Dr. He said to be present, and
other skin conditions, such as the pit bull and her husband lost his flock as result,
modify your diet via food or fruit juices.
