As expected, Julia and Sebastian were completely enthralled with Theo ("fee-oh-dowa" if you're talking to Julia and, " ... " if you're talking to Sebastian). They couldn't be prouder big sibs and are totally in love ...
... I'm happy we were able to really capture the abundant warmth and fuzz on crystal clear film.
And thank goodness I caught their first glimpses of the baby with my phone via these clips...
1. Bash obviously missed me
(if up close and personals of bebe facial bruising aren't your thing ... beware/sorry)
2. Julia's really growing up to be an independent woman
and some stills ...
Julia's affection is piqued solely by the injury ...
and very interesting diaper changes ...
Sebastian's interest isn't piqued ever ...
... at all.
And because I'm still on my luxurious hospication I'll keep droning on by way of alphabetical order:
a. I've said it before and I'll say it again: mirrors in postpartum hospital rooms are soooo unnecessary. Don't tell me there is any merit in seeing that situation under the glare of fluorescent lighting or under the glare of the most flattering lighting. I dare you to disagree.
b. For New Year's Eve ... I took an Ambien and Theo took a pacifier. It was great and greater.
c. Having a TV with channels in my room is not good. I came thisclose to convincing both Theo and myself that my skin could emulate that of Cindy Crawford's after getting sucked into a terrible infomercial. Thank goodness our gullibility was interrupted by the newborn photographers fifth phone call trying to sell us on some pricey priceless memories that I was able to weasel our way out of ... again.
d. I'd love/hate to see a calorie count for the total I've consumed since Theo's delivery. I'd guess it would come to around 5 trillion. Yep, 5 trillion whoppers straight from my beloved cafeteria. I won't say I don't have a problem.
e. I'm really sorry for remodeling the blog into a full-fledged baby corner this week. I'll try to be more varied and less focused on the third little pig soon. Maybe.
Happy New Year to you.

hahaha i am cracking at sebastian's lack of interest. i don't know what you're talking about with the mirrors, you looked amazing in your pic on instagram! glad you're all doing well... happy new year, pattons!
ReplyDeletepriceless pictures!! love it all. still hanging my a thread for the whole birth story ;) keep getting rest and enjoying the hospital stay!
ReplyDeleteIs Julia upset that the baby isn't named Diego?
ReplyDeleteMaybe the next one...
"I wanna hold you"...oh. my. g. You better watch Theo's back for him, I'm thinking Julia's not liking the idea of attention being divided by 3. Perhaps Bash could give up his cut of the attention? Doesn't seem like he'd be too fazed?
ReplyDeleteBaby Theo, you're cute.
Oh, happy day! Too. Much. Sibling. Affection. In. One. Blog. ;-) Many, many blessings on this new guy and I look forward to the additional posts and minor bruising in the new year! Thanks for the laughs in 2012--I know 2013 is destined to be filled with more the same! Healing, happiness, and full hearts!
ReplyDeleteSo happy for you! Congratulations and blessings for health, peace, and plenty of sleep!
ReplyDeleteIn my humble opinion his name is fantastic.
Love LOVE the baby cornerness...never let it end. Birth story coming for those of us who are birth story junkies?
ReplyDeleteI love reading about and seeing the new baby so keep it coming!! (Just one humble opinion.)
ReplyDeleteOops...and Julia and Bash, too! You're all adorbs
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your new little one. Sweet little family. Keep these baby post coming for many weeks. updates..updates..galore!
ReplyDeleteJulia is so seriously a genius child. For real! Noticing the shiner, taking notes on hiney care...she'll be doing all your work for you in no time.
ReplyDeletecongratulations on little fee-o-dowa the explorer!! I bet Julia is SO excited you named her little brother after Dora :)
ReplyDeleteI love Julia. Everything is so verrrrry serious with her. Love it.
ReplyDeleteHowever, Basher wins with his dismissive little flip of the hand he gives the baby. "Yo Baby. You can leave whenever."
Congratulations Pattons! How exciting!
ReplyDeleteMy theory: "Gianna" wasn't there because you had a boy named Theo instead... Julia, Sebastian, & Theo are so adorable. You are so blessed!
ReplyDeleteWelcome, little Theo! What wonderful news. So very happy for you all, and praying for your growing clan. What an awesome family.
ReplyDeleteFav post ever! Love your little family! Too cute!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new little one!!! I can't wait to hear about life with 3. Enjoy the deep sleep of hospital Ambien!
ReplyDeleteI love how Basher was like, "New baby? Oh look! A garbage can!!"
ReplyDeleteMy kids are exactly the same way.
Congratulations - wonderful way to start 2013!
ReplyDeleteHospication?! Perfect word. I have said once or many times that I need to have another baby just so I can get two days of resting in bed with people bringing me food whenever I want it, but no pressure to go sightseeing.
ReplyDeleteKeep the baby pictures coming, especially if they include hilarious shots of Julia's observations and Bash's boredom.
The videos were precious! Glad to hear that everyone is doing good. Theo is too cute!

Such a cute video...I watched w/ E and he said, "I like that girl and that baby." :)
ReplyDeleteNever be sorry for focusing on a newborn eh! If I had just delivered a baby, and then received several soliciting telephone calls from photographers I would need to go to confession ASAP eh ;-)
ReplyDeleteI think I could read about your experiences with the three little piggies every day and not get bored! So happy to see the new little one is healthy and beautiful, if albeit a little banged up!
ReplyDeleteThey're all so sweet! Enjoy your hospital bliss and Happy New Year!
ReplyDeletea. You might be able to sue for emotional trauma.
ReplyDeletec. I thought I was such a bad mom for turning down the photogs. But, I have a camera phone. Isn't it the same thing?
e. Don't stop, get it. Get it. I'm cool with baby info.
Who is this Gianna that Julia is so concerned about?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your new family member! He is adorable - great name too (my little brother is Theo). I am a new member of your blog - I saw it via Merricks Art blog.
