I think Theo got his dad's hair and permagrin.
We are still in the thick of the interminable night float month straight from hell and I'm still not sleeping a wink before the hour of 8 in the am because I'm very busy deciding whether or not the noisy heater is an intruder or just the noisy heater or an ax murderer or just the noisy heater. Simon has been coming home from work and letting me sleep for a couple hours before he goes to sleep for the remaining hours before he has to report back to labor with the ladies. Yes it takes a special breed of saint to be married to this neurotic nut.
Anyway, apparently it's wasn't all time-flies-when-you're-having-fun and haven't slept in 20 hours during Simon's shift with the little loves this morning because I woke up to this diamond in my box.
Amen.
(And I have no clue)

At least he gets you. That's something!
ReplyDeleteAdvice: replace the batteries.
ReplyDeleteHehe, I crack myself up. And when I'm not busy doing that, I'm glad I have Camp Patton to do the job!
lol. you're funny. where is your blog; i want to read!
DeleteGood question, good question.
ReplyDelete1. I'm a major fraidy cat in the dark alone, or even if J is asleep before me.
ReplyDelete2. Time stands still at school alllll the time. It's a curse.
Wow. He hasn't slept all night because he is WORKING, to help people who are sick, and then still doesn't sleep when he gets home after not being able to lay in bed all night, and you're the saint?
ReplyDeleteShe's saying HE'S the saint...cool your jets.
DeleteWhat Grace is saying is that she's the "neurotic nut" and Simon is the saint. Just a lil mix up ;)
DeleteUMmmm. No you need to re-read this. Clearly Grace labeled herself as the "neurotic nut" and Simon as the "saint"! And since when are pregnant {laboring} ladies "people who are sick"? Not to downplay Simon's work because what he does is amazing. However what Grace does is equally FABULOUS. Now quit being so rude Anon.

Deletehaha.... "Now quit being so rude Anon" I 2nd that! Yayyy for Husbands who let you get a little sleep before taking care of crazy little people all day! Way to go Simon! When no one is getting sleep the Wonderpets know what will work! Teamwork!! OK. Getting back to my painting while my crazy littles are napping! But for reals, nice teamwork Campers
DeleteWow- clearly anonymous needs to work on her reading comprehension and/or inference skills because it is quite apparent that Grace was referring to herself as neurotic in a humorous, self-deprecating way. Furthermore, to insinuate that Simon is the only one WORKING is just plain ignorant. Holy eff, anon, calm down.
DeleteClearly, anon's comprehension skills aren't as up to snuff as his/her snarkiness. Get a life!
DeleteI say you're both saints.
DeleteThe Brayn of Chalayn
Wait a minute...is Simon posting as Anon?
DeleteTheo looks like he could be a red headed Patton...yay!
ReplyDeleteLove haters who publish as anon. But the other evil here is the 3 minute half hour. Hit it everyday around 4 pm.
ReplyDeleteGiggling at that little anon commenter. You should too.
ReplyDeleteKudos to Simon for kicking ass (do I have to put a quarter in a jar somewhere?). My husband watches our little man 2 1/2 days a week and the text messages are always entertaining. Either it's a pic of the kid screaming or doing something reckless...
Tell Sime that when time stands still like that, it means Happy Hour's starting early.
ReplyDeleteHa! That is awesome. I am so afraid of the dark too! When my husband is gone for the night I sleep with a light on in every room and the TV on. In our old house I even slept with the closet light on... It was bad.
ReplyDeleteI get crazy questions from my hubby too... Friday he picked the girls up from school - I get a call 2.5 secs after he picked up the minivan from my office. "Ummm... so what am I supposed to do?" Go inside and get our girls???? Papas can be way silly/crazy sometimes.
No solutions, just solidarity on both the short nights and time stopping. I'm just thankful I dont have to go to work somewhere after not sleeping, though getting up with a toddler isn't exactly easy.
ReplyDeleteNeurotic nut? No way. I always have a hard time sleeping during night float too and every other weekend when Ben has 24 hour call. How many more weeks do you have left?
ReplyDeleteBtw, you're looking quite modelesque in that pic in the background! Gorgeous!!!
I'm with Simon--time passes at a normal rate only during naptime. Gah. Also, this is so late, but please never stop blogging... unless you move next door to me. :)
ReplyDeleteI also thought Grace was referring to Simon as a neurotic nut (obviously my degrees mean nothing at 9pm after a hell-week of school and work), but didn't think twice. Both are equally deserving of sainthood! Kudos for teamwork.
ReplyDeleteAnd husbands just ask silly questions sometimes. Tom was getting Ryder ready to go visit grandpop and asked me, "what does this kid need?" I rolled my eyes and ignored him. 'Hi! He's been your son for a year and a half, during which time we've taken him a million places; have you learned nothing?' seemed too harsh.
P.S. Come decorate my house next time you're in the greater Philadelphia area?
That picture and the caption cracked me up. So funny! I can totally relate to the drain on your energy when you are sleeping solo. My husband sometimes works nights and I am constantly jolting awake hearing some sound and thinking, "What was that???" It is exhausting to "sleep" like that night after night. Not to mention having to get up with babies during the night as well! Hang in there! I TOTALLY get it!
ReplyDeleteAw, I have a husband and a son with permagrins like that, too. Cute! We've been settled in our little house almost 9 years, and just this past year have I stopped panicing at night noises. Instead, when I hear them, I replay all the past instances of how I wasted sleep worrying...and still not sleep.
ReplyDeleteEven with the big fence and the middle of nowhere and the two dogs, if Tommy isn't home I am a WRECK. Not so bueno. Totally get it.
ReplyDeleteI find it helpful to keep a softball bat next to the bed when my husband is out of town. It's enough that you feel like you are protected while not actually allowing you to mistakenly kill someone. I went to a used sporting goods store and explained that I was looking for a bat to attack night invaders. The guys at the store actually got really into the quest and I tried out a number of options before landing on the winner. I still get creeped out on occasion but it's made sleeping manageable.
ReplyDeleteAlso, just as a head's up (I don't get much traffic so you probably won't even notice) I linked to you but I didn't use the official "create a link" button. Hopefully, all will work out.
And, umm, now I may have posted my comment 3 times. I am sooo smooth!
