Let's just get the thing out of the way that goes without typing three separate times: the hat was a dumb idea. I didn't even wear it to Mass so Simon said these photos are a lie anyway. I just see so many cute bloggers rocking the hat and looking so cute cute cute but I'll just stick with what I know: not hats.
We were back in action at our favorite hospital Mass this morning where Sebastian was horrible in my lap but a little angel in Simon's. The lady in the front of us slathered on three pumps of hand sanitizer before the sign of peace but she did offer a hand to Julia which was the highlight of Julia's little day until we hit up the cafeteria for a sprinkle doughnut and watered down coffee in her sippy. Theo didn't make a peep and Simon said when the elderly lady behind us came back from communion and noticed his car seat in the aisle she did a triple take and gave a little look of disbelief that there was another Patton angel in our midst. Believe!! Simon doesn't exaggerate like I tend to do so he was probably right. Like sometimes.
you didn't ask but I'll still tell ...
tunic: Old Navy via Caroline
boots: Hunter vie eBay
hat: Forever a mistake
glasses: c/o Firmoo
Mass Behavior:
Julia: B- (freaking about her sippy not fitting into the pew pocket)
Sebastian: C+ (usual shenanigans)
Theo: A+ (still as a statue, silent as something super quiet)
Linking up with Fine Linen and Purple. You should definitely do the same.
***thank you thank you thank you for all of your nice comments on yesterday's post. Simon read them and declared more than once that my, "plea for attention worked". Always a fiesta of feel good around here.
I like the hat! It's way better than what I wear which is my four year olds hat because it's cold and we're late (to everything) and someone in the house always is taking my stuff! You're sticking with the blog!
ReplyDeleteMeant to say " Glad you're sticking with the blog".
DeleteI did ask, 'cause that tunic is great and just exactly what I've been looking for.
ReplyDeleteTears in my eyes from "silent as something super quiet." So funny you are.
But I did not laugh at that poor, self-assured girl burning her hair off (last post, I think)! It was too, too terrible!
Why did she use hand sanitizer _before_ the sign of peace? To protect you from her germs I guess???
ReplyDeleteI like the hat! No one looks worse than me in a hat!
ReplyDeleteI think it's just the type of hat... but I think you'd look so cute in many other styles. You should try a fedora. This comes from the person who looks terrible in ALL hats and is jealous when others can wear them.
ReplyDeleteAgreed, totally just the type of the hat and the fact that it doesn't sit closely enough on your head. A hat with a brim would definitely work better, even just a newsboy-style cap.
DeleteJohn Paul is SUPER into the sign of peace now, too. It's the highlight of Mass every time he celebrates at home - even the babies are required to shake his hand, regardless of whether they're sleeping or not...
WOW It looks very cold Grace but you look comfy in your Beanie, opaque Tights and Rubber Wellingtons and you look really yummy.

xx
You may not like that hat but you are pretty enough that all I notice is how d@mn cute you look in it. Really, why has no one dragged you away kicking and screaming to the high glamor life of a fashion model??
ReplyDeleteditto!
DeleteI actually dig the hat! Love how the belt and the Hunters pull everything together =)
ReplyDeleteGet a hat with a pompom! I don't usually wear hard but I have one with a pompom that makes it just heavy enough to flop over instead of the usual sticking up and making me look like a cone head. :)
ReplyDeleteThe hat looks so cute, esp. w/ those boots! To quote from Hitch, "This whole thing, it just works."
ReplyDelete1- super the cutest
ReplyDelete2- so glad, as usual, that we're not the only ones who give our children, of all ages, coffee. Vindicated!
Coffee, wine, beer, whatever keeps them satisfied :)
DeleteMy 9-year old is a Starbucks aficionado (just had to look up how to spell that, FYI - I'm OCD like that). That's what you have to look forward to..... and I can't wear those kids of hats either.
ReplyDeleteUm that hat is adorable. And kind of the greatest color ever. If you're never going to wear it again you're welcome to send it my way. ;)
ReplyDeleteAlso, the blogging thing. Ugh. It can get you down. The greatest thing I ever did was stop worrying about posting something everyday. Shoot, I went all last week without posting a dang thing. And in case you didn't get enough of it already, I love your writing. And you are fabulous. Never forget it!
these "what i wore" posts are some of my favorites! thanks for doing them each week (and telling where you got the items!)
ReplyDeleteI tired to punish Hannah's bad behavior during the consecration by saying "You don't get to give anyone 'peace'". That didn't work, obviously, because everyone around us went out of their way to shake the cute little girl's hand. She was beaming and gloating and I was a discipline failure.
ReplyDeletei always try to comment on the peeps directly in front and behind me in a link-up just for good merit so imagine my happiness when you followed me this day! first, i wouldn't rule out hats...i could totally see you rock a fedora. second, i almost peed my pants watching the girl burn her hair off the other day. thank you for that! third, i almost peed my pants again when i saw those forbidden-from-you words about giving blogging the pink slip. suffice it to say, thank you for NOT stopping. i'm not sure what i'd do without my daily dose of camp patton.
ReplyDeleteI'm not a hat person either. It makes me so sad, because as you said, others wear them and look super cute! But not me. I look.....even worse than awkward. And once the hat goes on, it cannot come off because my hair will have gone from whatever cute style it was in, to one, frizzy, impossible to tame mess. Sigh.
ReplyDeletesilent as something super quiet. hahahahahaha.
ReplyDeleteIt's ADORABLE!! You would be so SOL living in Alaska it is hat weather about 6 months out of the year
ReplyDeleteUm hi. You are super cute in that hat!! In fact, I'm pretty sure my first thought was, "look at the cute blogger rocking the hat and looking so cute cute cute;" and, had I not read your comments, I would have never second-guessed the cuteness. Not that I second-guessed the cuteness; I just had to go back and make sure I still thought it was super-cute. (It was). However, if you're still second-guessing it, maybe you should send it to NJ and I can test it out for you. Just to be sure. If you say no, it's because you agree you rock it! I win.
ReplyDeleteP.S. I have nothing else to say but it just feels wrong not to have a PS at the end of my comment.
OK - maybe just not this hat. Try a beret or something a little less "dwarish" maybe and closer to your head. (please don't hate me for typing that. I feel so mean).
ReplyDeleteYour style is impecable Grace and you have quite a flair for putting it all together. You always look so good...
Hats are hard to wear. Have you tried a beanie with a brim? I think they're more forgiving, and they frame your face and don't poof up. You still look great! :)
ReplyDeletewait the hat looks great!
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I saw your picture, I immediately thought of one of a certain "big" Mormon blogger...I love the way it looks so effortless on her but I don't think I could pull it off.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Will you write a post or send me an email with your baby essentials? Or maybe you have a post written, in which case I should look before I ask. Sorry. I'm due with my first in June, and I'd be curious to know what you got the most use out of. Thanks!
DeleteUm yeah I am totally not a hat person either. I hate how bloggers make those hats look so good, but then it's like.... weird looking on normal people. Maybe because my head is so large, that any hat looks stupid perched on top of my head. I have given up with hats.
