I promise this pregnancy will eventually come to a dramatic end and you won't be subjected to bump (or "boomp" as Julia says) photos any longer. But please know that it could be worse. I was pretty committed to the weekly shoot with Sebastian's pregnancy so venture outside tonight and count your lucky stars that I didn't run down that precious little path this time around.

I owe you all a big energized (one armed! let's not get ahead of ourselves) hug for all of your great energy boosting tips on my pathetic novella of a post last week because thanks to you I'm no longer feeling like the non-human eating walking dead. I've put a lot of your advice into practice and am feeling a million - nay - a zillion! times better. Jenny suggested I take my thyroid meds earlier so I've started doing so at 3 in the am when I am always (always) awake for some reason. And I've started eating smaller but more frequent meals (including one right before bed which has eliminated my middle of the night wake up and debate whether or not to make a quesadilla ... like I've been doing for the past several months) and I'm really trying to curb the sugar situation which seems to make a huge difference (shocky shock). All along with being mostly religious about my little pregnancy DVD workouts with Theo gnawing on my knee caps in the mornings while the big kids sleep in until 7. I read a lot lot LOT of Amazon reviews and settled on adding this one into the mix and holy sore. I think I'll ease back into postpartum exercise with it as well because Suzanne does not mess around. It's tough but doable.

So. It seems I will survive the remainder of the pregnancy and won't have to couch camp for 23 hours of the day anymore. And I owe it all to you. And my own exemplary self discipline, of course. Self discipline that drove myself and the kids to the McDonald's drive-thru last night to purchase and split our inaugural Shamrock Shake (I couldn't not celebrate the feast day ... ) and eh. It was good but not great and please know I am a lover of the milkshake with very low standards. Maybe I'll try it again just to make sure I'm firm on my feelings there.

I love love love this blouse that Bohemian Traders sent and truly thought I could casually pull off the old, "maternity? nah, I'm good" look but then I saw these ....

and no.

I'll tuck myself right back into my tents and tunics until multiple weeks postpartum and then run back to this gorgeous blouse in the summer.

To note ... for future Grace and Bash to read ... I took Sebastian to my OB appointment this week while a fellow residency wife (thank you Tory!!) watched the other two and up until now he has had no interest in chatting about the baby. None. It's almost comical to watch him change the subject when I try to broach the impending arrival of his new sibling. But! After the appointment where he heard the heartbeat he now regularly asks if the baby is okay and recreates the heartbeat sounds while not-so-gently drum beating on the bump. Progress in the Patton household.

And! I emailed Simon a name idea two days ago fully expecting him to hate it and he didn't (or he lied) so ... progress squared in the Patton household.  Look out.

That's all for now.

Thanks for sticking by me ... I know it's not always easy.

:)

oh, 34 weeks along with Bash.
(I was in a rosy mood that day, wow.)

  3. I want that DVD but amazon won't ship it to Canada unless I sell my firstborn's arm and a leg. Sooooo, if you could please make your own video recreating the entire workout and then post it that would be wonderful. Thank you in advance. Ps. love the blouse.

  5. You look beautiful, Grace!

Thanks for linking to the Suzanne Bowen DVD—I've been looking for a slightly more intense workout video than my usual round-up of free prenatal yoga videos on Youtube (which are super relaxing but don't exactly make me break a sweat) and I think I'll try that one.

  7. Love the jeans! Very cute look.

I'd really love to hear a blog post with thyroid info/tips! How do you handle it day to day, what do you tell family and friends (do you tell if they don't ask?), how do you manage it during pregnancy or when planning pregnancy (specifically how often do you have your levels taken), etc. It would be so helpful to people like me new to this condition.

I've been taking my medicine at 6am and going back to sleep. Haha! I recently cut out soda (I was drinking a can a day) and I feel SO much better. The first two weeks were brutal, but now I have a lot more energy.

  8. I love that blouse but I would spill something on it in zero seconds flat. I have had to change clothes three times in the past two days because of spillage. I can't sit up straight because of my wonky back but it's been like that for three years plus so it's not a new problem. I've really lost the fork to mouth connection lately. White, cream and pretty much anything light colored is out for me.

  9. I wish I could make pregnancy look half as good as you do! And yay for baby names! Always a victory to agree on one.

  10. You look great! Love the blouse. It will be perfect postpartum in the summer. I can't believe you only have 6(ish) weeks left. Didn't Theo come at like 36 or 37 weeks? You could just have 2 weeks left. Lucky duck. I am notsosecretly hoping I will carrying pregnancy a little better next time because I am pretty positive I looked like your 34 weeks at 18 weeks. It was not pretty at the end.

  12. Shamrock shakes *are* really disappointing. :/
Cutsey-toots outfit, though, and progress squared is wonderful. :)

  13. Suzanne Bowen! I have her Long and Lean DVD and love it. Thanks for the recommendation, because...yes, they get boring after a while. I'm 28.5 weeks, so I have a bunch more time to do pregnancy workouts -- plenty to justify another (!) workout DVD. :)

Also, I love the blouse. And I think it makes a great maternity top on you.

  14. You look adorable, as usual!

  15. You look amazing, of course, and so NOT HUGE. I am jealous. That's what my bump looks like at like 26 weeks.

  16. I don't get what the deal is with the Shamrock shakes, either. They're not minty! They taste like vanilla! Why bother.

  17. Beautiful! Also, can't wait to see what you name this baby - you and Simon must make good compromises:)! (And if it's a boy or girl!!!)

  18. you look so fabulous my friend. fab.u.lous.
my Jonathan was completely oblivious to Miss Court until he heard her heartbeat. then it became very real that there was a baby "in dare". Go Bash! Working on that Big Brother of the Year award.

  19. Why is agreeing on a name is so hard? I swear I throw out a million names and none of them get more than a "ehh" from my husband.

  20. Wow! 34 week already! I'm so excited for you, Grace... Hoping and praying for a beautiful and healthy little baby soon. Let me know how it is with 4, I'm curious and doubtful that it will be more chaotic than 3... Heh!

  21. I agree about Shamrock Shakes being disappointing ... Two Lents ago I chose to get one on a Sunday ... worst use of my Sunday feasting ever.

You look great! Don't be silly.

    And those heartbeats are charmers.

  22. NO FAIR you look gorgeous and TAN and well I'm blatantly jealous (but not pregnant so I win in the end)

  23. Love the shirt -- I am a sucker for folk arty embroidery. Well, for folk arty stuff in general.

Whenever I took Walter (less than a year old, at the time) to my midwife appointments, he'd fuss and whine and cry until we got to hear the heartbeat. Then he'd settle right out and just sit with a smile on his little face. I love what a wonderful, soothing effect it seems to have on them (and I guess on us Mamas too!).

  24. I just stalked your blog for way too long whilst my two kidlets were in the bath (With me supervising them of course, well I was in the room while my eyes were on your words!..) after seeing your Instagram photo on Em from Beetleshack's Bohemian Traders Account. Anyways, novel aside, your blog is fabulous and hilarious! Love it! Your sense of humour and sarcasm is so refreshing and very appreciated (I'm an Aussie). Now following you on Bloglovin and I can tell your blog will become a firm fave! All the best with bub no 4 and you look s-t-u-n-n-i-n-g!!

  25. Sigh. My 20 week bump is as big as yours at 34 weeks. Maybe if I had any muscle tone at all the ab region I could compete. But I have been avoiding workouts like the plague. Never too late to start??

  26. I'm so impressed you're even trying to regain energy at this point. Anything beyond 30 weeks (or maybe just, anything beyond the stick giving me the news) I'm just exhausted and figure it goes with the pregnancy. Maybe next time I'll try harder :) see? and you never knew you were so inspirational.

  27. Blanqi tanks = the best thing ever! Surprisingly though, the Target version they sell (which is "bumped by blanqi" is to me, better than the $70 version! So glad you posted about them a few weeks ago though, they have saved me since 25 weeks!

  28. Do BDG jeans come in maternity now?? If not how are you wearing normal jeans? I'm 26 weeks and am having the hardest time finding jeans that fit, if you have a secret to wearing normal jeans, please do tell :)

    1. I wish!! these have an elastic waist ..... I looked all over to link to them but they don't sell them anymore. BOO. But if you can find some on eBay -- get them!!! they are amazing -- esp for postpartum!!!!

  29. From one doctor's wife/Catholic mom of many to another, I'm sooooo jealous of how awesome you look! Huge?? Ha. If I wasn't sporting unwashed hair and pjs right now, I'd post my own pic so you could see what #8 at 38 weeks looks like. You'd think I'm carrying quadruplets if we were standing side by side.
