I ♥ the Internet

I know I already put this on Instagram but it needs its time to shine ... twice. Jenna's a crafty genius. A generous crafty genius (and one of my favorite bloggers and e-friends) and she stitched one of Julia's quotes (the rules at preschool ... according to ... Julia) and sent it our way last week ... making my life complete.

She j-j-j-j-ust opened an Etsy shop and takes custom orders in case you have some toddler quotes that need saving and stitching.{this is not sponsored ... just a crazy coincidence and I wanted to spread the good word}

To see more of Jenna's quality stitchery ... Kelly's got a little something to show you that will make even the grinchiest grinch crack a smile. Check it.

And if you need a little Thursday pick me up ... might I strongly suggest that you watch this homemade but amazing music video? I do sort of know Celeste in real life (sort of) ... we share an alma mater so it's only a teeny bit creepy that I'm linking to it.

And that my children have enjoyed multiple viewings.
In various states of clothed and not.

Here's another one. And Celeste had a baby like .4 minutes ago so ... I have no excuse not to start pursuing my newfound dreams to co-star in a similar production. Do you think they'd let me guest dance in their next? I hope YES.

Okay let's switch gears to laundry. Only Rachel could manage to inspire me in this department with her super helpful post. Pin it. Learn it. Live by it. Die by it, if you want.

I hate to admit that I've all but given up on sewing aside from the (VERY) occasional alteration but Madeline's incredible DIY cross stitch shirt just might pull me out of retirement. Impressive doesn't even begin ... I'm missing a huge creative chunk of my brain because something like that would never even occur to me. As Julia would say, "brah-bo!!" Madeline. Brah-bo.

Kate's blog is one of my favorites and she pulled together a great list of toddler books that won't drive you insane. I'm assuming your children obsess over certain books for months at a time and only want to read that one really obnoxious book? Well ... try these.

I'm back to my all important mascara testing and have been combing through the comments of my last mascara post for suggestions but I have to tell you that I've already thrown two tubes away after a few test runs because they were that terrible. And I still have some foundation from college ... I'm not big on throwing makeup away. If you have any suggestions .... let a curious blogger know, please?

Theo (finalllllly) took a few steps last night so I texted Simon who was just showing up to an interview dinner down in Florida (thou shalt not covet thy husband's life) and his immediate response was, "is it dumb to get a beer?" .......

...... I think our texts just crossed but I had to laugh .... third borns have it rough. Maybe if Theo learns a little tap dance by the time Simon gets home tonight ... he'll earn a dollop of his father's attention. Just maybe.

And now I'm off to placate all of my underage housemates and their ever so sweet demands for everything while I devour more brown rice and sweet potato Triscuits (don't buy them ... so addicting) and say a silent prayer that Simon's remaining interviews are miraculously rescheduled to be Skyped.

Wish me luck.

  2. So those videos were amazing! And I definitely think a Grace cameo should be in the works! I recently tried Loreal telescopic mascara and was pleasantly surprised, it took me a minute to get used to the wand, but I am a believer in two coats and I'm done!

  3. Fave mascara was Rimmel. But I have this horrible habit of every time I wear mascara I cry "like an emotionally disturbed child" (name that movie)…all over my husband's shirts. Water-proof is a terrible lie. It's horrible. So I don't wear mascara anymore. Laundry has gotten easier.

  6. Benefit Bad Gal Lash - so soft, so awesome, such a giant brush. "They're Real" always makes my eyelashes break off, but I love the Bad Gal lash.
I'm eating chicken nuggets with my 3 year old while the hubs is at another steak dinner - definitely coveting over here.

  7. I think my son's preschool teacher would agree with Julia! I need a cross stitch that says, "Why, yes, I DO have my hands full! What an original observation!" Or a t-shirt. I'd wear it to the grocery store when I take my three boys. I've been thinking of making up a shirt for the baby to wear that reads "it's not you, it's me" to reassure all of the sweet old ladies who make him cry by daring to so much as speak to him. Enjoy your triscuits!

  9. All I can say is, do not, under any circumstances buy the mascara from the dollar store. (Sounds obvious to most but anyway...) I received it as a Christmas present from a youngster this year and wow, unintentional Elvira eyes to the max. I could not get the stuff in the trashcan fast enough...which was a problem since I didn't want certain little eyes to see.
And why is your charm from Jenna on a mantle? No fashion post?

  10. Rachel's post about the laundry was great. It is similar to what I do. I do at least one load of dirty clothes a day, fold it right when it comes out of the dry, sort into baskets and each kid...well, the 5, 4, and 3 year old put away their own clothes.

  11. That picture of the three of them is just priceless.

  12. L'Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes. The only mascara that stays put on my lashes. Like the Blinc version of tubular mascara but half the price.

  13. Thanks for the shout out, my dear! You are far too kind.

  14. Still still still Clinique high impact mascara. $16. Worth it. Hopefully it wasn't the one of the ones that you just tossed. Clinique also has about 8+ varieties, so you can pick your poison. And very detailed reviews on their site, if you don't trust me. I keep coming back to maybelline dream matte mousse foundation. 7-10 depending on where you buy. Good coverage and no mess.

  15. define a lash my Maybelline is probably my favorite. I used to also really like feather lash (I think it's called) but I think they changed the formula because I didn't like it the last time I used it.

It doesn't give me crazy thick tarantula eyes-- just length and definition. Like most mascaras I don't like that hard eyelash feeling but this one isn't so bad, I think. I hope you try it and love it! :)

  16. OMG, speaking of bad mascaras....I too am searching for the next great mascara. I just bought L'oreal Shocking Extensions and IT IS HORRIBLE. I swear this mascara makes my lashes look SHORTER than they actually are. How is that possible, and in a product named "Extensions," no less?? Awful, awful, awful. And it was $8 so it kills me to throw it away and buy something else.

  17. My sister recently went to a make-up party to support a friend of hers that is a new consultant. She walked in the door and her hubby asked how much she spent, she answered $40. He said "that's not bad" and she responded with "all I got is a tube of mascara"! I told her that better be some pretty awesome mascara for $40 a tube.

  18. I don't know if you've tried it yet, but I'm newly in love with Clinique's lash building primer. It came in a free gift with their volumized high impact mascara, and it is awesome. The primer makes the lashes kind of stiff to hold the mascara, and so the mascara goes on great, doesn't clump on me at all, doesn't smudge or run. I've always been one to just buy whatever I find at the grocery store in the make-up aisle, but I'm sold on this Clinique primer now.

  19. My eyelashes are the worst too! I finally came up with a solution that works, though - the trick is to use 2 different mascaras! Somehow the combination of the two makes my (very few, short) lashes look amazing. I use Maybelline Great Lash (NON waterproof for the first layer) and use a waterproof Maybelline Falsies Volume Express for the second (sometimes third) coat and it works AMAZING. A non waterproof first layer makes it so easy to remove and the waterproof second layer keeps it on all day. Seriously, you probably already have both of these in your collection - try it. First time commenter, long time reader - I love your blog!

  21. Using a lash primer will change your world. Your lashes will not be brittle and they will stay soft. I have used MAC's prep and prime lash on myself and clients. Curl your lashes swipe one coat of primer and you will be amazed how much you will like a mascara more you thought you hated. Right now I'm loving Cover Girls Flamed out. Gives lots of volume and separation. I have always loved most of Lancôme's mascaras. As for foundation try Laura Mercier's tinted Moisturizers. It's like no makeup, makeup. Really lightweight and lasts all day, make sure to set it with a light powder like their translucent powder. Use your fingers to apply. No fancy brush needed!! Good luck!

  22. L'oreal Voluminous Million Lashes is my all-time favorite... I keep trying other ones because I'm convinced there's something better and ... there's just not.

  23. Check out 'snoopnattynat' on instagram. She did a post recently on the same mascara question and got a HUGE response. She followed up on her blog so you might want to check that out too. Good luck Grace and thank you for guaranteed smiles after your instagram and blog posts!

  26. Almay One Coat. Doesn't flake. Also, I skip my bottom lashes which prevents coon eyes.

  30. HA omg, the Beuche sisters! Celeste and I were in household together, and I got to experience those stellar dance moves often. Thanks for putting those up, it was super fun to see her again!

Anyway, I wanted to give you a huge virtual hug for the shout out. You're the kindest.
