Linking up with Kelly ...
1. I thought I'd lost a whole bunch of reunion and summer photos but some of them mysteriously crept back into my camera roll this week? Not complaining. And this was one of my favorites ...
... taken one of our quiet and relaxing morning walks with the whole crew.
2. & 3. This gets two takes because it's by far the biggest news of the week/month and maybe even year but my little sister, Emily, got engaged!
I'm going to try to get her and Sam to write their how we met story because it's a good one! I will say that he Sam had been discerning his vocation with the CFRs (here's a fun clip of him singing/beat boxing that my kids love to watch), reconnected with Emily after he left the monastic life for good and the rest was sort of history. But! I'm going to make them share - they are the cutest. Let the wedding planning commence!
4. I'm sure you've seen that thee Hallie Lord released a new book and I'm loving it. It's one of those rare books that I ripped open at the mailbox and by the time I walked inside the house I was totally engrossed/hooked. Worth the read.
5. Related, I think I need to make the switch over to audio books - does anyone have and love/hate their Audible membership? Yay/nay?
6. Okay, this should probably go into a confessions post BUT I've never really been tempted to buy any of Kylie's lip kits etc but now that she's coming out with a peach color ... I AM. Everyone has told me that Colourpop is the exact same thing though SO ... maybe I'll go that route first.
7. I know the last thing we all need is another online boutique full of adorable clothing but Gray Monroe might be my new favorite place to e-window shop.
Have a wonderful weekend!

I am absolutely obsessed with my audible membership. Hearing the book read aloud brings it to a whole other level. You'll love it!
ReplyDeleteAudiobooks rock! I also connect with my local library and get them for free- because books are expensive and I listen to them driving to work or when working. Worth it!
ReplyDeleteDitto! I just connect to my library using the Overdrive app and I have a steady stream of audiobooks to keep me read/listen/ing.
DeleteYes! Love doing that too but my library wait lists are 6+ months sometimes 😑
DeleteWhat exciting news for your family, Grace! The CFR's, particularly a couple of the guys in that video, were some of our be friends and surrogate family when we lived in NYC. Good peoples.
ReplyDeleteAlso, love Audible. Good TV alternative for the kids while they play or rest and for car rides it's clutch. I like to listen to my books while I clean and do laundry, too.
I check my audiobooks out from the library! It's free! They download on my phone - I listen to a lot and so $15 for one book a month just seemed like too much. I check out most of my kindle books too.
ReplyDeleteI am probably in the minority, but I did not like audible or audio books. I listened to Girl on the Train with a free trial from audible and I feel like I would have gotten a lot more out of it reading it. I don't want to be distracted by other tasks when I am "reading" so trying to listen while I was doing other stuff didn't work out so great for me.... but again, I am probably the only one who will say they prefer to read books over listening to them!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI am the exact same with audiobooks. If I listen while I'm trying to do something else, I often lose the train of the story or which character is speaking. But I'm not an eBook person either.
DeleteCongrats to Emily! Looking forward to the story... I'm sure anyone who hangs out with the CFRs is a great guy!
ReplyDeleteI'm really looking forward to the how they met story!
ReplyDeleteGood stuff!! Do you know about Mindy Mae's Market? That's my new fave. As for Audible - not my favorite. I did love listening to For the Love, but wasn't as into Yes Please. I think it just takes so long to listen, and I have to be in the right setting, that it's just not my fave. One more thing - I recently discovered that on iphones, you can view your recently deleted photos. Just open the Photos app, go to albums on the bottom right, and recently deleted is a category. Maybe that will help??
ReplyDeleteYes! Love them.
DeleteNo, the photos aren't there 😭 But that was smart to check!!
Go with ColourPop!!! They are so great! The liquid lipsticks and the little lippies! And you can't beat the price.
ReplyDeleteI got a 3 month Audible membership for $9 on Living Social (or Groupon) to try it out. That gave me one book a month. I liked it
ReplyDeleteI soooooooooooooooo want the story! (chanting: story! story! story!) Congratulations to them and to your whole family on the new family member!
ReplyDeleteI signed up for Audible so I could listen to a book for free during the trial and then lo and behold forgot to cancel so now I have a bunch of credits, and if I cancel now then I lose all the credits so I'm trying to listen to a bunch quickly! I've found that I enjoy it if I am doing mindless work; packaging, editing artwork, painting, folding clothes ... (wait let's be honest, that last one doesn't happen ;) )
I'm in the same boat! I buy long books and then don't finish listening to them in a month and my credits stack up. And you can't have more than 6 credits so you lose any more than that, and if I quit I lose all my credits!
DeleteAudible is good but check out if your library offers Overdrive, an app for digital audiobooks from your library.
ReplyDeleteLove that first picture! So much energy and passion!
ReplyDeleteDarn you for another great boutique suggestion! I mean, bless you, because that store is adorable (I'm already itching to order that Harrison top), but I'm 11 weeks with my second and the preggo pants are happening a LOT faster this time around. Maybe if I just order two of everything and size up for one...
ReplyDeleteYes please to the how they met! And I love audio books however I dont tend to listen to them except when driving and at work-around the house I find it's good to listen to only when doing mindless tasks ie dishes and cleaning :)
ReplyDeleteWe love audible at our house--but I think it may be hard for you. All my kids are in school, so listen while I clean or drive when my house are car are empty--but when my kids are around, I want to be engaged with them and there are too many interruptions. So--it may not be your season yet. But it can't hurt to try.
ReplyDeleteCheck out your libraries eaudiobook collection! You can download a free app and listen really easily on your phone, tablet, and in the car. I like listening to my audiobooks while cleaning or washing dishes at the end of the night. :)
ReplyDeleteI absolutely positively LOVE audible. I used to borrow audiobooks from the library, but sometimes there would be a huge wait for new titles or the CDs were terribly scratched. I find myself listening to audiobooks while doing housework, which is a total win-win!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE audible. I used to borrow audiobooks from the library but sometimes the wait lists were forever and sometimes the CDs were badly scratched. I tend to go through about one book a month, so audible has been perfect. I love being able to accomplish some housework while enjoying a book!
ReplyDeleteI love audible BUT only for non-fiction. I like to immerse myself in fiction by reading a physical or Kindle book, so audible won't work for me (I've tried with Audible samples).
ReplyDeleteHowever, with non-fiction, it's a really great way to get through books that are topical in an easy way - while cooking, driving, tidying, etc.
YES to Audible. I pretty much always have a book in my ears if I have any downtime (what's that?). I was actually going to say that "The Night Circus" is an excellent Audible "read." Jim Dale (the guy who read all of the Harry Potter books and is suuuuuper amazing in general) reads it, and I think it adds a lot. Also, since you've asked for suggestions before, have you ever read: Code Name Verity? If not, you should listen to it on Audible. The narrator (well, there are two, but the first one especially) is INSANE. Like, the best I've ever heard. I found another book read by her just to listen to her read again. The story is also super different/interesting. I think you'd like it, though it's not close to your usual genres. (I don't think).
ReplyDeleteCongrats to your sis!! I'd love to help her name her first baby 😉😁
ReplyDeleteLOVE Audible, it's how I get my WRM books "read".
ReplyDeleteI love audiobooks...and really can read so much more when I have a good one! To be honest, I don’t have audible...because I don’t want to pay for books. Because I’m cheap. BUT, I do have the FREE library app: Overdrive. You can connect to your local library through it and have access to all their audiobooks. Such a great source of current titles and classics, etc.
ReplyDeleteAudio books changed my life! Seriously. I love Audible.
ReplyDeleteI love that Sam is wearing an In & Out Burger shirt :o)
ReplyDeleteExcited to read the dating/engagement story!
ReplyDeleteGo the colourpop route! I'm so obsessed with them, and have gotten at least a dozen other people hooked on their matte lip colors! LOVE them and they stay on for.ev.er! <3
ReplyDeleteAnother vote for audiobooks via the library! Our library uses the OneClick Digital app (not slick, but works fine). I've recommended multiple books not in their catalog, which they end up purchasing and email me when they're available! (FREEEEEE)
ReplyDeleteAlso, PS check out this post if you need actual help figuring out (like I did): http://www.everyday-reading.com/2013/10/how-to-download-audiobooks-to-your.html
ReplyDeletei have SO been wanting to try one of her lip colors also, even though carmex is my 'color' of choice these days...or like all days for the past decade. Ive decided since turning 30 I'm going to learn how to wear lipstick. Big goals huh? www.thewanderlustmoms.com
ReplyDeleteCongrats to Emily & Sam! Yes, PLEASE get them to write their "how we met" story! I love me a good "how we met". :)
ReplyDeleteI like Audible, despite it being expensive. I love it for housework and long drives. I did try to cancel once and got a few months at half price, so for sure do that! ;) I haven't gotten audio books from the library yet, but I'll try it. I've also meant to try LibriVox, but I keep not getting around to it.
