If you've spent more than a few minutes reading my blog you know that we are HUGE thredUP fans in this house. We've loved them from the very beginning and while this happens to be a sponsored post but I was going to write this exact post regardless so it works out well!
I'm guessing you know the general premise behind thredUP but if not - I'll give you the briefest of breakdowns. thredUP is the best resource for finding high quality secondhand (and oftentimes new with tags!) women's and children's shoes and clothing online. Think of it as a well curated and organized online consignment store where everything is up to 90% off the usual retail price.
While I love finding things to buy from thredUP, they also make it SUPER easy to send in your gently used shoes and clothing. You just have to order a Clean Out Bag, fill it up, schedule a USPS pickup online and off it goes! They'll go through and decide what they can keep and sell (and give you thredUP credit) and what they can recycle responsibly.
I'm always telling my friends about thredUP and while they are always excited about the concept a lot of them confess that they feel overwhelmed trying to narrow things down (which is a good problem because their inventory has just gotten more and more impressive over the years) so I wanted to give a few tips to help you get the most out of shopping online with thredUP.
But first! A few of my recent thredUP finds ...
Phoebe is wearing a Juicy Couture dress and I'm wearing a Madewell top + Current Elliot flares I found on (you'll never guess) thredUP.
And again. With Gusto.
I have a very loose uniform every season and I'm so excited that tennis shoes are all over the trend charts right now because that's what I wear around the house as it is ...
I found these Forever 21 jeans, J.Crew turtleneck, and blush Nine West sneakers all new with tags (shoes in the box - tissue paper and all) on thredUP a couple of weeks ago.
I never thought I'd be one to wish away the warm weather but I wouldn't mind a hint of fall to descend on Florida if only for the fashion.
And finally these D'Orsay Bamboo (brand new!) black flats for $23.99 and they normally retail for $60 ...
... paired with aforementioned denim and an Old Navy plaid button up I snagged from thredUP in the spring.
Okay, down to business.
+ the app! I love thredUP's app because it's really easy to navigate and quickly scroll through their selection - not that it isn't easy on the computer but I like to use the app while I'm walking on the treadmill or waiting in the school pickup line
+ save your brands! I have several favorite brands that I have saved as "my brands" that I can edit anytime but I'm familiar with the fit of Madewell, J.Crew, Zara, Loft + Lou & Grey etc.
+ save your size! Of course, we all wear different sizes from different stores but you can narrow down the size (and equivalents) so that if you're looking for denim with a 33" inseam from Madewell you can be sure to only be shown what's available in your size(s)
+ measurements matter! Measure the length of a few of your favorite shirts, tunics, and dresses so that when you're shopping you can get an idea of where things will fall on you because they always include the length measurement which is so appreciated because some dresses are actually probably a little more suited for tunic status on taller gals
+ check new arrivals! Every few nights I scroll through their new arrivals in my size and favorite brands and am rarely disappointed. I'm always checking the kids' shoe sections too
+ be specific! last fall I was looking for a lightweight navy crewneck sweater and couldn't find anything I liked in my usual brand picks so I deselected my favorite brands and branched out a bit and immediately found something that fit the bill. So while looking within your favorite brands is important - sometimes you'll discover a new one to love as well
If you've never shopped at thredUP before - now's the time because you can get 40% off your first order with code CAMP40 (valid until 1/5/2017 and discount up to $50).
I hope my tips were helpful! Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll answer to the best of my ability and of course, happy shopping!!

The cutest, girl!
ReplyDeleteLove the flares!

I bought an orange suede jacket on Thredup last season and still get compliments on it all the time!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE ThredUp. Definitely my favorite place to shop lately!
ReplyDeleteI think your link got messed up somehow. When I clicked on it, the message on ThreadUp said, "Welcome! Kayla's $20 coupon for you will be applied to your order automatically at checkout." :/
ReplyDeleteI love every outfit!! The first one might be my favorite, your legs look about a mile long!
ReplyDeletei want those blush sneakers now.
ReplyDeleteThose shoes are adorable and thanks for the tips, ThredUp is one of my goto places to shop online
ReplyDeleteLove ThredUp! Been shopping there for about 8 months now both for myself and for my toddler (mostly for myself). It's really easy to return things as well and I always select getting credit rather than a refund because that means I won't have to pay for shipping and I know I'll use that credit anyway. ThredUp is getting very popular very fast and they aren't sending out Clean Out bags as fast as they used to. I'm getting my most recent one after waiting 3 months and I had to email them. The plus side is that you always get a response from customer service very quickly and they are super friendly and helpful even though they are crazy busy. Currently wearing brand new Banana Republic dress pants that were new with tags. Regular price - $80+, I paid $23. Shizzam.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of purse is that? I tried to zoom in to the label but couldn't read it.
ReplyDeleteit's from Lily Jade :)
DeleteWhat brand is that pink cardigan? Is that from the site as well? I love it and I would love to get it if it's current from a store!
ReplyDeleteMadewell! Here's the link but I got it on sale a couple of months ago http://bit.ly/2dV73X4
DeleteI love the concept of thredUP and the app is pretty easy to use, but as a plus size gal I've yet to find something I love. I wish they had more plus size stuff. I second sarah skye, where is that pink cardigan from? I love it! The black, grey, pink color scheme is super fresh.
ReplyDeleteI'm going to pass that along to them - thanks for letting me know!!
DeleteAnd thank you!! the cardigan is from Madewell :) http://bit.ly/2dV73X4
While I love your blog Grace I've had such a bad experience with sending them quality clothes and getting nothing in return. While I feel like shopping there is easy the selling has totally changed as well as the ethos of their company. I used to love them so much but I won't support them any longer. I'm glad you are having such a good time with them.I mean this as a non offensive comment just sharing my experience with Thredup.
ReplyDeleteboo! I've passed along your comment and I'm so sorry to hear about your experience, Blair. I generally have great luck when I send in good quality on-trend clothing but it's a bummer that wasn't the case for you!
